CAT · IIT Madras BS Data Science

CAT and IIT Madras BS previous year questions, filed to the topic that cost you the marks.

7,000+ questions from 69 released CAT and IIT Madras BS papers, each one attached to the syllabus node it came from. That mapping is the product: it is why a single topic can be practised across every year at once, and why a mock report can name the topic that leaked marks instead of handing back a score.

What is Prasnya?

Prasnya is an independent practice platform for two Indian exams: the Common Admission Test (CAT), taken by MBA aspirants, and the IIT Madras BS in Data Science and Applications degree assessments. It holds 7,000+ questions transcribed from 69 officially released papers spanning 2017 to 2026. What distinguishes it from a folder of question papers is the mapping: every question is attached to its exam, subject or section, chapter, topic and subtopic. That single property is what allows three things a PDF archive cannot do — practising one topic across every year at once, assembling a timed mock from any slice of the syllabus down to a single subtopic, and producing an attempt report that names the topic which lost the marks rather than returning a bare score. Prasnya is not affiliated with IIT Madras, the IIMs, or any examination body.

A previous year paper is raw material.

Everyone has the same papers. What almost nobody has is the paper taken apart — every question attached to the topic it came from, every attempt timed, every mistake addressable.

A paper you can only read becomes a paper you can sit.

Any published slot becomes a timed attempt with the real section order, the real marking scheme and a question palette that tracks what you have answered, flagged and skipped. When a whole paper is the wrong test, build one out of a single section, chapter, topic or subtopic instead — scored exactly the same way.

The same paper, under time.

A score tells you how it went. It cannot tell you what to fix.

Every submitted attempt is broken down into accuracy, time per question against the time the question deserved, difficulty bands and attempt quality — perfect, wasted, overtime, confused. The weakest topics surface by name, and Pro adds a question-by-question review of the whole paper.

What the attempt gives back.

Every question knows where it lives.

Nothing here is a folder of PDFs. Each question is attached to the exact syllabus node it came from, which is the only reason a report can name a topic instead of returning a number — and the only reason you can build a mock out of one subtopic.

Questions about Prasnya.

Which exams does Prasnya cover?
Two programmes. For MBA aspirants: the Common Admission Test (CAT), with 24 full slot papers spanning 2017 - 2025 across VARC, DILR and Quantitative Aptitude. For IIT Madras BS in Data Science and Applications: Qualifier, Quiz 1, Quiz 2 and cumulative End Term previous year papers across all eight foundation subjects. One account covers both; you pick the one you study when you sign in.
Which CAT papers can I practise?
Every CAT from 2017 - 2025 — 24 slot papers in total, 1,830 questions, every one mapped to its section, chapter and topic. Solve them question by question, take a whole slot as a timed mock, or build a sectional test from VARC, DILR or Quantitative Aptitude alone.
Does Prasnya support TITA and negative marking?
Yes. Both formats CAT uses are supported — single-answer MCQs scored with negative marking, and non-MCQ questions where you type the answer. IITM BS papers additionally use multiple-select MSQs, which are scored the way the paper scores them, partial credit included.
How is this different from downloading a CAT PYQ PDF?
A PDF is the paper as it was printed. Here the paper is taken apart: each question carries its section, chapter, topic and subtopic, so you can pull every question on one topic across every year, or build a timed test out of a slice of syllabus. A PDF cannot time you, cannot score you, and cannot tell you that the eleven marks you lost were all in remainders.
Can I practise a single topic, like remainders or parajumbles?
Yes — that is what the mapping is for. CAT is broken into 50 topics and 156 subtopics, and IIT Madras BS into 568 topics and 1195 subtopics. Each one is its own route, and each can be taken as a timed mock on its own rather than only met four questions at a time inside a full paper.
Is Prasnya affiliated with IIT Madras or the IIMs?
No. Prasnya is an independent practice platform. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to IIT Madras, the IIMs, or any examination body.
Where do the questions come from?
Real previous year papers — 69 of them, spanning 2017 to 2026 — transcribed and mapped to the syllabus node each question belongs to. That mapping is what lets a mock report say which topic leaked marks instead of just returning a score.
What question formats are supported?
Every format either exam uses: single-answer MCQs, multiple-select MSQs, numerical and type-in answers, and multi-part comprehension and caselet sets that carry their passages, tables and figures with them.
What is the difference between practice and a mock?
Practice is one question at a time with the solution a tap away and a stopwatch running. A mock is timed and scored end to end — a whole paper, or a slice of the syllabus you choose: a week, a topic, or a single subtopic. Both feed the same analysis.
Does it renew automatically?
No. Every plan is a one-time payment for one month — nothing recurring, no mandate, no card stored for later. When the month is up you decide whether to buy again. New accounts get 1 day of full access first, without a card.
